PTA final newsletter July 2023
Welcome to the PTA section of our website.
Ann Edwards Primary PTA
Ann Edwards Primary Parent Teacher Association is a registered Charity (no.293895) and all parents and guardians of children at Ann Edwards School, and all teachers, are automatically members of the PTA. The Association then elects Trustees (committee members) which currently is two Co-Chairs, a Secretary and Treasurer. We are also supported by a team of volunteers (parents, carers and teachers) who are dedicated to raising money and making a difference to our school, so that all children can have the best educational opportunities possible.
We hold an AGM (Annual General Meeting) in September, where we elect Trustees, review the previous year’s activities and set out aims and priorities for the following year. We usually meet a couple of times a term and set up smaller groups to organise individual events. We have a formal constitution (below) which explains the procedures we follow to run effectively and meet the Charity Commission requirements.
To keep you up to date we produce a termly newsletter and have a Facebook page – www.facebook.com/AnnEdwardsPTA
The PTA is a great opportunity to meet other parents and get involved in supporting the school so if you wish to join in, or have any questions, then please contact us at PTA@annedwardsprimary.co.uk
Calendar of Events
These are the events we usually run during the year (although we are always open to new ideas!)
October – Movie Night
December – Christmas Fete and Shopping Night
February – School Disco
March – Mother’s Day Sale
May – Family Event and BBQ (as part of the South Cerney Street Fair)
June – Donuts For Dads
June/July – Summer Fete
We also run Toasty Tuesday each week, where children can buy a slice of toast with a topping of their choice (chocolate spread is very popular!) and hold a couple of raffles each year, one at Christmas and one in the Summer. Other events include our popular Quiz Night, Sponsored Events and ‘Beat The Goalie!’
Each year we also ask the children to design Christmas Cards, which are then sold to their families, and we have on occasion had commemorative tea towels designed, with the children’s self-portraits.
There are plenty of ways to get involved and be part of our lovely school community!
Other ways you can support us
Rag Bag collections – you can donate unwanted clothes to raise money for school. These collections take place about once a term from the school car park. Just drop off your old clothes, bags and shoes!
Easyfundraising – visit www.easyfundraising.co.uk or download the App, to donate to the PTA whenever you shop online. If you set up the ‘donation reminder’ a message will pop up whenever you visit a participating retailer so it’s literally one click. Best of all it costs you nothing!
Amazon Wish List – check out our Amazon Wish List to see which items school needs. There’s everything from glue sticks to books to pens! You can select the school address to have any items delivered straight to us! https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/dl/invite/hWVIsqX?ref_=wl_share
Match-funding and Grants – we are always on the lookout for companies which offer match-funding, or grants, as these are a great way we can maximise our fundraising efforts. If this is something you, or a company you work for, could help with please let us know.
Make A Donation
If you would like to make a donation to the PTA, please contact us at PTA@annedwardsprimary.co.uk. We can claim gift aid on donations so would provide you with a form to complete.
What we have funded recently
Over the past year, we have funded a number of items for school including a smartboard, maths equipment, arts supplies, world maps and swivel globes. We also contributed to furnishings for the ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support) room, playground skipping rope sets, school sets of thesauruses, assessment materials and we cover the licence for Accelerated Reader. This year we are also funding a whole school play by Hobgoblin Theatre Company and we provide extra treats for the children, such as Chocolate Santas at Christmas and other commemorative items.
Get in touch
Please do get in touch if you would like to get involved. Any help at our events is gratefully received, if you could man a tombola stall, bake a cake or run the bar, we’d love to hear from you! Also, if you would like to have a chat about becoming a Trustee, please also let us know, as these roles needs to be filled in order for the PTA to run.
Thank you for your support!
